Krishnakunj: Reimagining Timeless Indian Design Through the Lens of Nostalgia
Location: Nagpur , Maharashtra.
Design Concept:
Designed by Home Studio, for a family of four, “Krishna Kunj” is a 1600 sqft. , three bedroom apartment in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Envisioned for a family with a three-generation agrarian heritage, this home bridges nostalgia and modern urban living. The design narrative weaves the warmth and craftsmanship of ancestral dwellings into a sleek, contemporary framework.
Beneath its restrained aesthetics, lie two carefully considered architectural gestures that define the project: the gentle articulation of curves and framed timber elements, both adding a quiet sense of craft and character to an otherwise restrained interior palette. What begins as a functional gesture unfolds into a recurring visual thread, subtly weaving across the home, creating continuity between spaces. Instead of treating function as something to be concealed by decoration, the studio makes it the foundation of the home’s design language. The result is a warm, contemporary home where restrained architecture meets the richness of natural materials. Softly articulated curves, crafted timber elements and carefully considered furniture forms create a cohesive visual rhythm, while a muted palette keeps the interiors calm and timeless. The interplay of mid-century silhouettes with subtle Indian craft references lends the spaces a quiet sense of character—refined, tactile and effortlessly lived-in.
